Things to Do in Tucson, Arizona with Kids: A Family-Friendly Weekend Travel Guide

Saguaro National Park-Valley View Trail

We had the best weekend exploring Tucson, Arizona as a family. It’s only 4.5 hours from our home base in El Paso, TX! We love basing our trips around a National Park & we usually have the best time! Here are our top things to do & places to stay in Tucson, AZ with Kids!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Omni National Tucson!

There were so many family-friendly Amenities:

  • Swimming Pool (no description needed here!)

  • 3 Onsite Restaurants-We love being able to grab coffee & breakfast before our adventures & enjoy a nice dinner on resort so we don’t have to load up our toddler! Bob’s Steakhouse was incredible & even had a kids’ menu! Legends Sports Bar was a fun casual dining experience & the Peak Bar was fun for a pre-dinner cocktail!

  • Hacienda Suites-These are perfect for families who have young children who go to bed early! We loved being able to have a drink by the fire once we put him to bed! They were extremely spacious & had a kitchen too which is so convenient when traveling with kids (and all the snacks/milk!)

  • Beautiful Grounds-We just loved our time here & captured so many beautiful photos of our family! The views of the mountains were great!

  • Spa & Golf-Going on a parents’ getaway or taking turns for self-care? Everything is right there on the property-a beautiful golf course, spa & fitness center!

  • Jr. Chef’s Program-Kids get a little activity baggie at check in & if they return a completed post card, Omni donates a meal!

Saguaro National Park cannot be missed when you take a trip to Tucson, AZ! We were in complete awe of all the Saguaros. Did you know there are over 1 million in the park alone?

Our Top 3 Things to Do In Saguaro National Park with Kids:

1) Valley View Trail-This out & back trail had great photo ops, was easy enough for our toddler to walk the whole thing & had amazing views at the end!

2) The Bajada Loop-This is an easy drive to see great views of the park & mountains

3) The Red Hills Visitor’s Center-Don’t forget to stop here to get your Junior Ranger Badge & Saguaro Stamp!

#4: Have Coffee & Pastries at the Roadrunner Coffee Shop

We made a quick stop here before our time in the National Park & it was a great way to start our day! They had so many latte flavors, wonderful pastries, bagels, avocado toast & smoothies! We always like to check out at least one local coffee shop when we travel to a new city! Graham loved trying to spot all the road runners he could find & of course, Battleship!
